(More customer reviews)The Western Chief mud boots are ideal for young boys. There were 3 key features that I was looking for in a boot, and this one has them all. First, there is a fabric lining on the inside that allows feet to slide in and out easily. Without the lining, the bare rubber makes that task much more difficult. Second, the bottom has great grips. Flat rubber boots are a nightmare in slick conditions, even more so if you're just learning to walk, so solid cleats are a must. They do track in a lot of mud, but if you have young boys, there are many more crevasses in which mud and dirt are lurking, so whats one more? Besides, if you clunk the boots together outside, the bulk of the mud falls off anyhow. Third, these boots have loop handles on top. It is very easy for my boys to grab the handles and pull these on by themselves making one less task for daddy. I would not consider another boot that did not have all of these features! They also appear to be well made, and should last through several boys. If the frogs aren't to your kids liking, Western Chief has several other themes, just pull them up on Amazon, and let the kids pick the ones they like best!
Disclaimer: These boots are equally appropriate for young girls, but I have all boys...hence the bias...
